Blossom season revives community tourism in Lao Xa

Each February and March, Lao Xa Hamlet in Sa Phin Commune, located in the Dong Van Karst Plateau, is blanketed in the pure white of plum and pear blossoms intertwined with the soft pink of peach flowers. After the harsh winter cold recedes, the valley awakens in vibrant colors, creating a poetic landscape that stretches from rocky slopes to the centuries-old earthen houses of the Mong ethnic community.

Beyond enhancing the scenery, the blossom season brings renewed vitality to local life. Farmers begin a new planting season in the fields, while laughter echoes through the village around warm kitchen fires. Mong girls, dressed in colorful traditional attire, stroll beneath flowering trees, and children play joyfully under peach and plum blossoms, adding to the tranquil yet lively atmosphere.

In recent years, Lao Xa has emerged as an increasingly attractive destination during the blooming season. Unlike bustling tourist hotspots, the village captivates visitors with its untouched beauty and unhurried pace of life. Travelers come not only to capture photos of spring blossoms but also to explore century-old traditional houses, learn about the long-preserved silver forging craft, and experience the distinctive cultural life of the Mong people.

The blossom season has also opened up sustainable opportunities for community-based tourism. Local households have taken the initiative to improve their homes, preserve the landscape, and introduce regional specialties such as mint honey, corn wine, and handmade crafts to visitors.
